Since there are no real effective home remedies to rid scabies you should be using the next best thing which is sulfur or tea tree oil. Although you may not have sulfur or tea tree oil in your home you can easily get them online or at your local pharmacy. Sulfur has been used for centuries to kill scabies mites and eggs even before traditional pesticides were made available. Sulfur comes in many forms such as creams, oils, lotions and soaps.
The sulfur itself can have a lime like smell to it or even some characterize it as smelling like rotten eggs. Although it may have a odor to it you can use it successfully and safely to treat scabies mites and eggs. It is suggested that you use a natural scabies treatment before you even think about using pesticide based treatments such as Permethrin.
However, if you do plan on using Permethrin you should consult with a physician as the creams can be potentially dangerous and can not be used by pregnant women, children and some older adults.
Scabies Home Treatments
Sulfur treatments here work great for scabies as they penetrate the skin deep enough to kill both eggs and the scabies mites. The creams can also be used on back to back days unlike the use of pesticide which can only be used once every 7 days. This make the treatment easier as it allows you to spot treat day or night.
Tea tree oil here is not a scabies treatment but when used in combination with scabies treatments such as sulfur it can really help to quickly eliminate the mites. Tea tree oil is known for it’s anti-fungal, antibacterial and mitacide properties.
